Tiger Woods hasn’t played the Masters since 2015, and if people want to see him live in action at Augusta National, they’re going to have to pay a little extra. OK, a lot extra.
A sales agent for TickPick.com told augustachronicle.com, that Woods’ recent strong form in his comeback has raised Masters tournament first-day badges to $3,653, a 77 percent increase from last year’s Thursday badge.
“Tiger has always had an effect on prices,” TickPick.com’s Kyle Zorn said. “There’s something about him. Every time he touches the course, he draws the most attention. These are already the highest prices we’ve ever seen.”
Though Woods has not won the Masters since 2005, he won the event in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005, tying him with Arnold Palmer for the second-most victories. Jack Nicklaus has won six times.
Woods already has three top-12 finishes on Tour this season, including two straight top-5s. Now 104th in the world ranking, after falling out of the top 1,000, he looks poised to enjoy his best season since winning five times in 2013.
